Jake Rabbit

Eagle Mountain is getting quite the network of mountain biking trails. It seems that most only know of the bike park and the Flintstones trail. But we have been building a lot of other trails.
This October the High School Mountain Biking League is planning on having a race in Eagle Mountain. So we have been working hard on building new trails that can be used for the race. Here is a video sample of the trails.

Jake joked about naming all the trails after us. So even though he named one of the new trails the Jackrabbit trail, I am calling it the Jake Rabbit trail.

Still plenty of snow in the mountains

Took a short trip up American Fork canyon this morning before work. If you get off the packed trails you sink upto your hips, but if you stay on the trail the riding is great.

It is so cool that snow biking has taken off in the last couple of years which has made American fork canyon a summer fall and winter biking playground.

Ironman?

My son has been trying to talk me into doing an Ironman for a couple of years now. I've finally decided that I will start getting ready to do it. I know I can bike the 112 miles, I may be able to swim 2.4 miles, but I know right now I could not run 26.2 miles.

So today after doing my normal hour Spinning I went for a jog down the road and back. I know it isn't far or fast but I need to get my legs use to running instead of just biking. I think I will continue with short jogs like this for this week and then up the distance next week.

Great Western Trail in the Winter

I should have been doing the interval training, but on Monday I had an appointment with the outplacement agency that Novell hires for people they lay off. So after dropping the kids off at school I figured I would just hang around the area and take pictures until my appointment. So I headed up the Great Western trail. This is a trip we frequently do on mountain bikes.

It looked like I would be able to finish the whole trip in time for my appointment, but I had a hard time finding the trail in the snow at the one point, and ended up being about 40 minutes late for my meeting. Oh well I got some great pictures, and I'm not looking for a job anyway, because I am going to open my bike store as soon as they get the building built. I put the pictures together as a video an then thought I would try uploading to youtube and to blogger. My first attempt at uploading a video.

While walking the trail I realized why I no longer like winter. It is because I don't do enough winter activities. It was great to spend some time appreciating the simple things in life, the beauty of nature. It was also fun to run across a LARGE herd of elk. Anyway, if anyone ever reads this, I hope you enjoy the video.
